Slippery When Wet - Gags & Drooling
Welcome to an ongoing discussion of gags and gagging in the world of BDSM. Today, I'll be featuring an inevitable consequence of being gagged, as well as the fetish some have for this special aspect of keeping her quiet.
And, it should be said that today's post is a very slippery topic. It could even be said that it's discussion occurs on a slippery slope, as folks tend to either love or hate the fact that gags can cause uncontrollable drooling.

I'm a 48 year old male who tied up his girlfriend for the very first time on December 8, 1980. It's a date I'll never forget because while I was ravaging my captive, the radio announced that John Lennon had been shot.
My point isn't about John Lennon, nor is it about the strawberry blonde I was with that fateful morning. Instead, I'm simply saying, in my own roundabout way, that this series is written from my personal experience.
I write from the perspective of a primarily heterosexual male (I usually say heteroflexible these days as a nod to being pansexual) who's had a number of D/s relationships through the years with a few wonderful lades (and my ex wife.)
The subject matter and techniques discussed in this series are intended to be nearly universal in nature, and not dependent on any one particular sexual orientation. Please feel free to apply your own sexual preferences and orientations as needed, and remember as with all things in life, your mileage may vary . . .
Drool out the dayDrooling, Gags, & BDSM
Drool out the night
I can't see no reason to put up a fight
I'm living for giving the devil his due
And I'm drooling, I'm drooling, I'm drooling for you

When a gag is strapped or tied into place, the obvious result for the submissive is the loss of the ability to communicate. But, both the physiology and psychology of gags are far more varied and subtle.
Gags can cause uncontrollable drooling. That simple fact is a significant turn-on for a good number of fetishists, dominants, and submissives alike.
From the submissive perspective, it would seem that individuals who are turned on by being forced to uncontrollably drool are excited by the total loss of control. Not only has their voice been stolen, but now they find themselves stripped of the ability to even control their own spit.
Of course, being covered in a pool of your own drool is probably more just than a little bit humiliating for most people. With that in mind, it's obvious then that uncontrollable drooling caused by a gag can also be a source of significant sexual humiliation for most submissives or slaves.
It's the opposite side of the coin, but very much the same sort of energy, that a dominant receives when they use a gag to force a submissive to drool uncontrollably. The obvious and visible loss of control is an exciting element for some dominants to create and observe.
I don't necessarily share the opinion, but some feel that gags themselves are humiliating. For dominants who buy into that philosophy, and are into using humiliation as a part of their play, drooling caused by a gag can be like sweet icing on the cake.
And while gags and drool may be the object of fetish like interest to some individuals, it should be remembered that to some folks, a long string of drool is simply a long string of drool, nothing special or exciting at all. On the furthest end of that spectrum would be those who find drool and spittle associated with gags to be absolutely gross.
With that in mind, it needs to be remembered that communication is vitally important when using gags in BDSM. That's probably even more true when playing games with uncontrollable drooling.
The use of gags needs to be negotiated in advance, safe signals need to be agreed upon, and discussion about associated issues like drooling are always a good idea. There really are people who have phobias about being gagged, so as a dominant it's essential that you talk first.
I don't want to hear real life stories about dominants who stuffed a gag in their submissive mouth and then explained her safe signal. That kind of thing is great for fantasy and book, but it's not appropriate in real life unless there are pre-negotiated agreements already in place. OK?
In terms of discussing specific gag styles and drooling, it's probably safe to say that ball gags and ring gags are both notorious for causing drooling "problems". Bit gags can cause drooling, but I also know that most designs allow enough tongue and mouth movement that some submissives will be able to swallow effectively while wearing one.
Quite obviously, cloth gags are usually the antithesis of drooling. they will usually absorb drool as fast as your slave's salivary glands can produce it. Tape gags in any variation will retard drooling, waterproof tape having the strongest effect.
The submissive's physical position also has a significant impact on the relationship between gags and drooling. Drooling's not likely to ever happen if she's laid on her back. And, if your submissive is laid on her side in a bed, you're not going to end up a pretty little glistening lake to evidence your girl's helplessness, instead you'll just get wet sheets
I don't really have any special drool stories to tell from past personal experience. My former wife and submissive, Blissful Torment, didn't mind being gagged at all, but she hated any kind of enforced drooling.
She'd manufacture ways to suck saliva to the back of her throat and find a way to swallow if at all humanly possible. While that kind of behavior is rather disappointing for a person who does enjoy this particular fetish to a certain extent, I can say with absolute certainly, it was the the least of her faults.
And finally, I'd like to ask you my dear reader - Do you have any of your own thoughts or experiences you'd like to share on the topic of gags and drooling?
Serafina and I would love to hear from you here, so please feel free to leave a comment.
